  • Responsibilities

    This is an Overnight position. The Facilities Operations Service Center Dispatcher serves as the central point of contact for all facilities-related communications, both emergency and non-emergency.

    This role operates on a 24/7 basis, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays, ensuring continuous support for all facilities operations.

    Key responsibilities include receiving, documenting, and dispatching service requests and trouble calls to the appropriate trades, custodial, or management personnel. The Dispatcher utilizes a computerized dispatch system to manage activity logs, create work orders, and maintain accurate documentation of all communications and actions taken.

    Required Skills

    Dispatchers are expected to answer calls professionally and ensure each issue is addressed thoroughly and efficiently.

    They are responsible for:

    • Creating and managing work orders.
    • Maintaining accurate activity logs and documentation.
    • Communicating relevant information via email to appropriate stakeholders.
    • Notifying management staff of serious issues in a timely manner.
    • Coordinating external service calls when necessary.

    In addition to call handling, Dispatchers monitor a range of automated alarm systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, fire alarm, and plumbing). Upon receiving alerts, they assess the situation, initiate the appropriate response, and ensure that all information is logged and communicated to the relevant personnel.

    Dispatchers also play a key role in emergency communication, including the issuance of facilities-related emergency notifications via systems such as Everbridge. They are responsible for assessing and directing the initial response to facilities-related emergencies, ensuring effective communication with Facilities Management and the broader university community.

    This position requires excellent communication, multitasking, and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
