    EF Academy is searching for a Facilities Technician/Coordinator at its 16-acre Pasadena, California, boarding school campus. The Facilities Coordinator (FC) is responsible for assisting the Facilities Director with facilities management (physical plant, grounds, and custodial). The 16-acre Pasadena campus is in a quiet neighborhood at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and comprises eight buildings: four purpose-built residence halls and four fully renovated classroom, athletics, and dining services buildings. The campus is also home to two outdoor basketball courts, a sand volleyball court, a swimming pool, and a soccer field, as well as 20 single-family EF-owned and maintained properties.

    This position is a hands-on position for a handyman with general maintenance and carpentry expertise.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a high-energy environment, maintain a commitment to quality customer service, and be willing to work a flexible schedule.

    • Assist the Facilities Director in implementing all building-related programs and procedures as assigned
    • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections to identify necessary maintenance and repairs.
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs in the areas of painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC equipment, door lock hardware, and all related building components.
    • Provide constant attention to all life safety issues; ensure building emergency systems are operational through in-house inspections and collaborative vendor maintenance.
    • Implement a preventative maintenance schedule designed by the Facilities Director.
    • Able to work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
    • Uphold EF’s business practice standards and ensure compliance with company programs.
    • Coordinate/communicate workflow with the Facilities Director daily.
    • Provide quality customer service at all times. Flexibility and comfort with a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; cool under pressure.
    • Proactively recognize, diagnose, and remedy any issues related to the facility.

    Other Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Work is generally performed in a school environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Work hours may vary, and occasional evening or weekend work is required.

    Skills & Requirements:

    • Intermediate to advanced proficiencies in building trades, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electricity (less than 550 volts), door lock hardware, and equipment repair.

    • At least 3 years of facilities, carpentry, and/or construction experience preferred.

    • Fluent English speaker able to read and understand blueprints, product specifications, and other technical materials

    • Working knowledge of applicable compliance regulations (i.e., OSHA, State, Local).

    • Ability to perform tasks with tools, ladders, and lifts in a safe and effective manner.

    • Ability to lift up to 50-100 pounds and carry it up to 90 feet (or deposit into dumpster or trash compactor).

    • Standing, walking, lifting, twisting, and bending on a frequent basis.

    • Valid driver’s license and reliable mode of transportation.

    • Willingness to adapt to changes in task assignments and ability to multitask.

    • Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

    • Education Level: High School diploma and 2 years of college or trades school preferred.

    • Background check required.

    Full-time non-residential position

    This is a non-exempt, salaried position. The average working week will be 40 hours per week during periods when the campus is open, with opportunities for additional hours to cover events and busy periods. Hours will mostly be during office hours during the week, and evenings, and will also include weekends. The hourly rate range for this role is $21.63 to $30.00, depending on experience and qualifications.
