Job Summary

The Graduate Student Diversity Officer is part of a team responsible for fostering a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable community. This position plays an essential role in providing student perspective and voice in decision-making and in galvanizing student participation in Mission, Culture & Inclusive Community (MCIC) programs and events.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Works with MCIC staff to develop, implement, and promote community programs and events focused on diversity and inclusion. Programs and events may include but are not limited to: community gatherings, dialogues, trainings, presentations, films, and book clubs.
• Attends and actively engages in various meetings and complete projects that relate to inclusive community initiatives.
• Actively seeks information from Naropa students on community inclusivity needs, both academic and extracurricular, and supports the development of assessment tools to determine the effectiveness of MCIC efforts to meet those needs.
• Fosters connection and assists with the creation/maintenance and facilitation of ongoing JEDI-focused student groups. Serves as a liaison between student organizations and MCIC.
• Serves as an initial contact for student inclusivity concerns, as appropriate.
• Maintains social media related to JEDI, including working with Marketing and Communications to foster promotion of events and create inclusive content for Naropa webpage and social media.
• Participates in ongoing training related to inclusive community, social justice and/or interpersonal skill-building.
• Engages in research as assigned and provide research summaries.
• Helps maintain a clean and organized office and cultural center.
• Provide office coverage, including answering inquiries, performing data entry, answering phones, copying, collecting and distributing mail, filing, etc.
• Presents and maintains a positive image of MCIC to the Naropa University student body, the campus community, and the surrounding community.
• Other duties as assigned.

All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
