  • Responsibilities

    The Speech Communication Studies Department at Iona College welcomes applicants as a part-time adjunct instructor for the Iona College Speech, Language & Hearing Clinic for the 2018-2019 academic year.  The Clinical Instructor will support the on-site teaching clinic to conduct speech, language services to clients and supervise undergraduate and graduate students during practicum assignments.  The successful candidate may also support off-site graduate students during external placements.

     

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Completes direct and indirect supervision of clinical practicum students at the Iona College Speech, Language & Hearing Clinic

    • Provides an appropriate professional clinical model representing the profession including but not limited to ASHA Code of Ethics, HIPAA Regulations, and Confidentiality Guidelines.

    • Develop protocol for therapeutic and diagnostic services for client care in conjunction with the practicum student, within the Scope of Practice in Speech Language Pathology as described by the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

    • Review and edit student documentation including but not limited to lesson plans and progress reports to follow clients, appropriate need and professional format

    • Documentation of session observed with time noted

    • Completes formative and summative assessment of the practicum students’ clinical skills

    • Provide verbal and written feedback to counsel students in regard to clinical practice, professionalism, and competency

    • Counsels students to develop clinical knowledge and skills through the recommendations including but not limited to additional readings, research and observations.

    • Instruct Family Team Meetings with clinical student participation

    • Provide clinical student instruction and remediation planning based on the student’s level of support with clinical knowledge and skill development

    • Complete Permanent Chart checks


    • Conduct individual and/or group therapy services and diagnostic services as needed

    • Client Care documentation: record keeping, clinical records, reports and referrals

    • Participate and complete grading for the students clinical skills, conduct midterm clinical reviews, and complete clinical exit meetings.

    • Final practicum grade submitted to the Clinic Director

     

    Additional Assignment Includes:

    • Weekly Office Hours
    • Email communication
    • Grading (Lesson Plans, SOAP Notes, Midterms, Finals, Progress reports)
    • Provide 1 in-service to the clinical practicum students/Speech Club within a two-semester contract (if applicable)
    • Participate in clinical staff meetings

     

    Additional Information:

    • Clinical Professionals are required to sign in and out. Time sheet must be submitted by Friday.
    • Responsibility is deemed on the professional to maintain appropriate licensing for the state, organization, insurance and medical requirements in order to practice in accordance of the standards set at the Iona College Speech, Language & Hearing Clinic
    • Follow dress code as stated in the Clinical Handbook

    • Reviews policies and procedures set by the Clinic Director
    • Adjunct rate of 6 credits per semester (10 hours per week)
    • Supervised by the Clinic Director
    • Reports to the Chair of the Speech Communication Studies Department

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • Certified Member of the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association
    • New York State Licensure
    • TSHH/TSSLD Preferred
    • 5 years of clinical experience post CF
    • CEU Transcript
    • Liability Insurance
    • PPD
    • CPR Certified
    • Effective Oral and Written Communication Skills
    • Knowledge and Skills for a wide variety of disorders and delays
    • Strong computer skills for using Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point

  • Qualifications
    • A strong understanding of corporate buying cycles and dealing with executive decision makers
    • Demonstrated examples to structure multi-tier channel programs
    • Demonstrated ability to develop quarterly channel sales programs for high value products
    • Demonstrated ability to succeed at quota levels of X selling high ASP solutions
    • Demonstrated ability to resolve channel conflict without compromising channel loyalty
    • Knowledge of the CA, AZ, NV, HI, CO solar PV markets (emphasis on the PG&E utility territory) desirable
    • Technical sales or sales engineering background preferred
    • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and outpacing peers- top performers and producers
    • Close attention to detail
    • A high level of professionalism and integrity
    • An assertive mentality, strong negotiation skills, a sense of initiative, and drive to exceed goals
    • A self-starter who requires limited supervision
    • Ability to understand deal timelines and accurately forecast
    • Ability to sell within the framework of a mainstream methodology (Miller Heiman, Challenger, Solution Selling, Selling Through Curiosity, etc.)
