JOB DUTIES: TSA would be responsible for supporting the specialized academic program at Yokomi by: *Help Yokomi teachers learn about and implement the new science standards NGSS. *Providing staff development in the areas of science and technology. This includes giving teachers the knowledge and resources to teach science in a meaningful way and use technology to instruct. This also includes giving teachers the strategies and resources to have students interact with technology to learn. *Providing staff development in science literacy having students develop academic reading and writing skills in the science content area. *Organize and procure science and technology resources so that teachers have the science materials necessary to provide hands-on instruction *Organize two Science Fairs each year to highlight student projects and learning in science *Assist with the development and implementation of a departmentalized schedule, which includes reading deployment in grades 1-3 for differentiated instruction *Coordination of study trips in the areas of science and technology, as well as other curricular areas. *Maintain science lab schedules *Conduct New Student Orientations and ongoing tours for incoming magnet students and interested families *Ordering and maintaining all technology equipment, as well as submitting repair tickets when necessary *Connecting with community resources to provide students with college and career-ready experiences, especially in the areas of science and technology. Other duties may include: Test coordination, EL Site Rep, facilitate scheduling of parent/teacher conferences, recruit and schedule interpreters for parent/teacher conferences, order and disperse curricular materials, maintain school website EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: bachelor's degree and three years of classroom teaching experience at the appropriate level.
