PROGRAM OVERVIEW - LEADING OUR NATIONS BACK TO ECOLOGICAL AND CULTURAL WELL- BEING The Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps engages motivated Indigenous young adults, ages 18 -30. Ancestral Lands has 5 locations in Acoma Pueblo, Zuni pueblo, Albuquerque, NM, Gallup NM and Hopi, AZ. Ancestral Lands is looking for Indigenous youth in and around their communities to engage in meaningful conservation work in the communities as well as throughout Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. Projects may include, trail construction & maintenance, habitat improvement, hazardous fuels reduction, re-vegetation and local environmental service projects. Crews may also complete technical and/or specialized projects depending on project partner needs, including disaster relief if the opportunity arises.
The Jemez District Crew will consist of 5 individuals who will assist US Forest Service staff in a variety of project work including: fencing in riparian areas, archaeological surveys, wildlife surveys, general maintenance of public use areas, etc. The crew will have the opportunity to directly work with the Forest Service's Archaeology, Biology, Fuels, and Recreation departments to complete important conservation projects across both the Jemez and Cuba Ranger Districts. The crew will work 40-hr work weeks, Mon-Thurs. ALCC is a non-residential program and does not offer housing.
Applicants must be between 18-30 and have a High School diploma or High School Equivalency Degree. No work experience necessary.
