  • Responsibilities

    The purpose of this position is to provide accounting and financial support.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Receives, reviews, and processes a variety of receipts, invoices, statements, vouchers, payments, fees and other information.
    • Prepares, updates, maintains, and audits financially related correspondence, reports and records.
    • Assists with annual budget processing by reviewing printouts related to checks issued, expenditures, encumbrances and liquidations and assisting in calculating budget numbers.
    • Coordinates billing of miscellaneous revenue by processing payments, adjustments and statements and recommending annual write offs.
    • Reconciles bank statements and general ledger accounts, analyzes accuracy for complex cash transactions, researches records and recommends adjustments or record corrections, and maintains records and processes journal entries to general ledger.
    • Provides customer service and administrative functions by maintaining and ordering supplies for department and implementing training, attending meetings, and providing guidance.

     

    SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Performs other similar duties as required.

    PREFERRED LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS:

    • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License

    PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.

    • Deputy Tax Collector Certification required at entry

    • Incumbents may be subjected to respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, physical hazards.

    Required Experience

    Associate's degree or diploma from an accredited college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school, with at least three (3) years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
