    The Paramedic Education Program is a fully accredited Paramedic program which meets Monday through Friday during Fall and Spring semester. The Paramedic Education Program consists of 15 separate courses covering in-depth pathophysiology of disease, advanced pharmacology, advanced cardiology, and advanced critical emergency care for medical and trauma patients. The Paramedic Education Program prepares students to pass the NREMT paramedic exam, be proficient working in emergency medicine, and for success in advanced placement classes in associate and bachelor degree programs.

    The Paramedic Education Program has expanded to include a new Bachelor of Applied Science in Advanced Paramedic Practitioner (BAS APP). The BAS APP covers critical care paramedicine, community paramedicine, and mental health. At the completion of the BAS APP students are able to take the Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CP-C), Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C), and the Certified Community Paramedic Exam (CP-C) exams through the International Board of Specialty Certification.

    The Emergency Medical Services Faculty position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position in the EMS Academy. ACC Faculty teach 15 credits each fall and spring semester. Faculty have the option to teach courses during the summer semester for additional compensation. Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery methods, including online, computer-aided, distance learning, self-paced, interdisciplinary; courses are offered during the day or evening. Faculty are expected to develop and evaluate curriculum, advise students, assess student learning, and maintain required office and campus hours.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Competency with multiple instructional delivery methods – online, hybrid, web-enhanced, and face-to-face.
    • Ability to build professional relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external constituents and outside agencies.
    • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as a member of a collaborative team.
    • Understanding of adult learning theory concepts; ability to use these principles effectively in the learning environment.
    • Ability to initiate work tasks and/or projects.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Ability to acquire and maintain a State of Colorado Paramedic Certificate in good standing.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree, or higher, from an accredited institution*
    • Faculty must earn a master's degree in education or a related healthcare field from an accredited institution within three years of their initial appointment date
    • Have, or qualify for, a postsecondary CTE credential including 4,000 paid non-teaching occupational hours in the last five years
    • Current state certification as a paramedic

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • National Registered Paramedic
    • One year critical care experience
    • Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C, CCP-C)
    • Community Paramedic experience
    • Experience teaching EMS courses and critical care medicine
    • Experience teaching online and face to face courses
    • Experience with CoAEMSP accreditation processes and guidelines
    • Postsecondary instructional experience (or training equivalent)
    • Experience with curriculum development
    • Experience with test construction and evaluation

    PHYSICAL & COGNITIVE DEMANDS

    The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

    • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports equipment weighing up to 120 lbs.
    • This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
    • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
    • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

    ADVERTISED SALARY RANGE

    The salary range for this position is $61,412 to $70,194, commensurate with education and experience. This salary is based on 166 contract days within an academic year (August - May). The projected start date for this position is January 2021; salary will be prorated based on the number of contract days worked. This is a full-time, 9-month, FLSA exempt position.
