The Georgia Military College – MILLEDGEVILLE CAMPUS – announces the immediate opening for a Tactical Officer (TAC) position reporting to the Operations Officer for the Commandant Office. TACs are responsible for supervising the character development, discipline, room standards and maintenance, safety, training, retention, extra-curricular activities, health and welfare, and good order and discipline of Georgia Military College (GMC) Junior College (JC) cadets. TAC Officers also act as mentors for the JC Cadets, supervising study habits and monitoring overall academic standards, academic progress, and providing support and guidance as needed. TACs are responsible for Teaching, Mentoring, Advising, and Counseling Junior College Cadets. As a team member of the Commandant’s Team, assist in recruiting through discussions with perspective cadets and their parents.

Required Skills
Have at least 10 years’ experience in the military with significant leadership positions such as Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Leader, 1SG, Company Commander or higher positions within the military. Drill Sergeant experience would be a plus. Must have at least an Associate’s Degree or higher, preferably a Baccalaureate Degree. Must possess exceptional character and high degree of integrity. Be a total team player and a problem solver. Must follow all applicable guidance and regulations set forth in the staff handbook. Must possess capability to manage and teach to manage projects such as major training events, Dining-In, White Water Rafting Adventure Trip, Daily Physical Training sessions, etc. Must be able to manage events such as the training of Cadets through Obstacle courses, Leadership Reaction Courses, High Ropes Activities, and Rappel Operations. Must be able to coach and mentor Cadets in the accountability of self as well as other cadets, coach and mentor cadets in inspection techniques for uniform inspections and room inspections. Must provide maintenance inspection reports to housing administrator on a periodic basis as well as assist the housing administrator as needed. Must possess the ability to communicate with cadets, peers, and superiors to ensure the flow of work within the Commandant’s Office. Must possess administrative skills to process pass and leave forms ensure discipline forms are properly administered, etc. as assigned. Must possess problem solving and listening skills to ensure cadets are focused in the correct direction when given a project to accomplish. Must track academic progress of cadets to ensure their academic success here at GMC. Must be able to manage discipline tours on a periodic basis. Must assist in the facilitation of Junior Cadet Leadership Camps during the summer. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products. Expected hours of work are 2:30pm to 11:00pm. Position requires some weekend work and requires the wear of U.S. Army Uniforms or Service Equivalent. Must be willing to submit to background check and drug testing.
