  • Responsibilities

    Responsible for planning, development and implementation of the promotion of the OSV brand focused on publishing products and services, with specific focus on trade books. This includes marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. The primary goal is to promote and increase the visibility of the OSV brand – and its publishing products – within the industry and in the Catholic sector. Secondary goal to drive revenue from sales of individual new books as well as backlist. This will include working in partnership with authors to drive specific sales results for their respective books in the media world as well as working closely with the Consumer Marketing Manager, Social Media Manager and other members of the marketing team to coordinate efforts for total OSV marketing and promotion. The Publicity & Brand Marketing Manager develops creative direction and copy/content for marketing vehicles such as email/direct mail campaigns, social media campaigns, videos, websites and press releases. The position works very closely with the Publisher and the content staff at OSV to support awareness, brand recognition and growth of the OSV brand. 

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Develops and implements the overall marketing strategy for books in order to grow sales and expand the mission and influence of the entire Publishing Division and the company as a whole.
    • Define and develop the marketing strategies for books 
    • Works with the Manager, Consumer Marketing and the Marketing Manager, School Products to support and implement a unified Branding strategy for the entire Publishing Division
    • Integrates the web, social media and other digital marketing tools into overall marketing strategies
    • Designs, adapts and executes author marketing strategies for both author recruitment, retention and sales of author-based products, including publicity and public relations as it relates to authors and OSV brand
    • Collaborates with Design, Production and Sales Departments to identify and test new promotion formats, vehicles and designs
    • Identify potential new areas where OSV could team to better serve customers and cross promote products
    • Develop in partnership with key stakeholders marketing plans for all books and related projects for the Publishing Division
    • Develops yearly projections for the sales of books and related projects
    • Coordinate with editorial, advertising, design and production departments in establishing and implementing proper policies and procedures to assure the quality and cost-effectiveness of all marketing efforts
    • Direct creative work for print advertising, branding, social media and web

    Required Experience

    • Have at least 5-10 years of marketing experience, including publicity/media relations/public relations
    • Requires a strong executive with a broad in-depth knowledge of marketing and a proven track record of improving performance
    • Have experience with collaboration and mentoring
    • Knowledge of Catholic market preferable

     

    EDUCATION:

    • An undergraduate degree is required. Degrees in communications, marketing and business preferred
