    Georgia Military College (GMC) announces an immediate opening for the Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (SrVP CFO), reporting directly to the President of the College. The SrVP CFO is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the resources and is a member of the President’s Senior Leadership Team. GMC is comprised of; the GMC two-year higher education institution with a limited 4-year degree program in the State of Georgia, the Georgia Military Global Online College, and a Preparatory School elementary and post-secondary school serving grades 3-12.  Specifically, this position is responsible for the following:

    • Organizing, developing and administering the financial and operational services of the College to reach institutional goals.
    • Planning, directing, forecasting and coordinating the College’s annual operating budget and capital budget.
    • Creating and evaluating policies and providing advice on the fiscal and operational impact of policy recommendations.
    • Ensuring the effective use of resources to achieve the College’s mission to produce educated citizens and contributing members of society.
    • Developing internal controls to safeguard the College’s assets and resources.

     

    The SrVP CFO provides resource management recommendations to the President and senior leaders of GMC. He/she also coordinates GMC financial requirements requests with the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:

    *Providing overall guidance and management of the budget processes, financial accounts, financial reporting, purchasing, investments, student financial aid, data management, and human resources.

    *Confers with senior leadership on future plans, direction, and impact of financial decisions.

    *Providing general direction of the purchasing processes of the College; review and approve contracts.  

    *Coordinating with State agencies on behalf of GMC.

    *Serve as the Point of Contact to the GMC Board of Trustees on financial matters and report the College’s financial position at the quarterly meetings.

    *Providing overall guidance and management of the payroll system, accounts payable and receivable processes of the College.

    *Assisting in Human Resource problem resolution and planning. *Assisting in the strategic planning for the College’s financial resources; and overall direction of the College.

     

    In this institutional role, the SrVP CFO works closely with four other Senior Vice Presidents for the College; the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of the College, the Chief Institutional Development Officer and Executive Director of the Foundation, the Chief Academic Officer and Dean of Faculty, and the Chief Information Technology Officer. The SrVP CFO supervises four direct reports and oversees the corresponding areas of operation; the Vice President of Human Resources, the Director of Financial Aid, the Director of Purchasing and the Associate Vice President of Business Affairs and Controller.

     

    _Established in 1879 by an act of the Georgia General Assembly, GMC’s historical main campus is located in Milledgeville, Georgia, which is located in the heart of Georgia’s Lake Country. Once the capital of Georgia from 1804-1868, GMC’s main campus operates out of the actual buildings where Georgia legislators worked. GMC’s fully accredited two-year junior college, and limited 4-year degree program, services approximately 16,000 full and part-time students across the State of Georgia. In addition to the main campus in Milledgeville, the College operates six other campuses, seven extension centers, and a Global Online College. Also located in Milledgeville is the highly regarded GMC Preparatory School serving grades 3-12 with an average enrollment of about 740 students. GMC employees an average of 1500 employees, of which 585 are full-time. _

     

    This position is located in Milledgeville, Georgia and operates alongside the rest of the institutional support departments.

     

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  

    This position requires each qualified applicant to possess an MBA or closely related post-graduate degree and 10 years of supervisory/leadership experience. A CPA is preferred but not required. Knowledge of accounting principles is required, as well as strong skills in Excel and Word. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills.
