Job Summary
This graduate assistantship will be dedicated to community engagement and development as it relates to the Division of Mission Culture and Inclusive Community (MCIC). This position will specifically support MCIC staff and will assist in supporting, promoting and organizing community building activities across the university.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Assists in the management, curation, and publication of the Naropa Beloved Community Weekly Newsletter in collaboration with university constituents and MCIC leadership
• In collaboration with MCIC offices (JEDI, Restorative Community, CACE and JMCR) and other campus partners, develops and implements programs and initiatives throughout the year related to diversity, restorative practices, sustainability and contemplative education.
• Assists with MCIC programming including Orientation, Welcome Week, Community Gatherings, Community Week, Practice Day, and Naropa Lunar New Year Celebration, and Earth Justice Week.
• Collaborates with MCIC work studies team to further support and coordinate various team needs.
• Collaborates with other programs and departments to create involvement and learning opportunities for the Naropa community.
• Assists with strategic planning for the Division of MCIC
• Participates in research, assessment and benchmarking activities, as assigned.
• When possible, will occupy a front desk receptionist role in the Chestnut House to support guests and MCIC staff as needed.
• Maintains organization and aesthetic of the Chestnut House and Cultural Center.
• Meet with the MCIC Work Study Collective on a weekly basis to administer agendas, notetaking, and collaboration.
• Other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
• Naropa University graduate student in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University.
• High degree of emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and assertive communication skills.
• Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Problem-solving acumen.
• Desire to help students be successful.
• An understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression, and the impact these have on equity, access, and opportunity in the workplace/higher education.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:
In the classrooms and on campus may experience: interruptions, distractions, heat, cold, dust and/or dampness. As a graduate assistant, you may spend extended periods time with any of the following:
•Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.
•Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.
•Standing or sitting for hours at a time.
•Moving around campus for classes and meetings.
Naropa recognizes the following holidays throughout the year: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, 4th Thursday and Friday in November, and Winter Break, the last two weeks in December encompassing the Christmas holiday as well as New Year’s.

Employees who work fewer than 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in Naropa’s retirement plan only, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.
All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
