  • Responsibilities

    The Technology & Policy Research Initiative (TPRI) at Boston University School of Law is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to conduct empirical economics research on the impact of technology on society. The position involves collaborating with James Bessen and other TPRI scholars on studies using microdata to explore impacts of new technology on firm growth, industry structure, occupational change, and employment. The position also affords the candidate the opportunity to do research on projects of his or her own choosing.  The postdoctoral researcher will have opportunities to engage in all aspects of the research, including exchanging ideas and comments about work in progress, presenting papers at conferences, and interacting with innovation and technology scholars in law and economics at BU and other Boston area universities. The position requires strong communication skills, an interest in the economics of technology, excellent data management and advanced statistical skills (Stata), strong programming ability, and good teamwork capabilities.  The position is full time for one or two years. Salary is competitive and comes with a full benefits package as an employee of Boston University.  About the Technology & Policy Research Initiative The Technology & Policy Research Initiative at Boston University School of Law conducts research on how technology affects the well-being of society as a whole: how technology affects incomes, why it sometimes creates greater inequality, what policies encourage both innovation and the skills and jobs that allow ordinary people to benefit from innovation, and how political economy shapes actual policy. TPRI’s research agenda explores the impact of technology on the workforce, what policies best foster innovation, and how economic dynamism can be encouraged so that new technical knowledge and the benefits of greater productivity are widely shared

     

     

    Required Skills
