  • Responsibilities

    Utilizing a deep understanding of diversity challenges and an ability to lead systemic change, the Assistant Vice President reports to the Senior Diversity Officer of the University and serves as an integral member of the senior management team. Design policies, strategies and programs to increase diversity, equity and inclusion which are in a coordinated, consistent, and consequential manner across the University.

     

    Work closely with the Antiracism Working Group, as well as collaborates with University central offices, individual schools and colleges, and with external entities to foster and establish an institution rich in a culture of diversity and inclusion.

     

    Develop criteria to measure and assess the diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives of the institution and with this information be responsible for communications, presentations and responses as well as representing the Senior Diversity officer at meetings and events both internally and externally.

     

    Design programs and trainings for University‐wide initiatives. Collaborate with multiple internal and external entities for the promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion. Provide project management and lead all aspects of implementation of initiatives.

     

    Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Senior Diversity Officer informed of all critical issues, and ensure uniform data dissemination. Serve as the central resource for program information and data analytics on programs and activities across the University in line with the University's comprehensive vision for diversity and inclusion programs. Prepare and maintain documentation on activities, as well as presentations and other materials as requested and needed.

     

    Stay current on all internal, local, national and global matters of diversity and inclusion with specific focus on the higher education climate.

     

    Assess potential University collaborations and initiatives by conducting research and producing reports related to the potential partner institutions and organizations and serve as a focal point for planning and organizing visits from delegations to the University.

     

    In collaboration with the Senior Diversity Officer, prioritize, coordinate and support initiatives of the University and organize the execution of those priorities.

     

    Create systems to ensure the University and its schools and colleges are on track to meet their annual goals by synthesizing, analyzing and managing data. Use analytics and market knowledge to guide strategy decisions. Prepare detailed monthly and high level reports regarding activities of schools and colleges and the University for the Senior Diversity Officer and University leadership.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Master's degree required and 8 plus years of related experience in a fast paced, high profile environment, preference for Higher Education experience.

    • Experience directly leading diversity and inclusion programs.
    • Strong leadership, collaboration, project management, problem‐solving, change management and influencing skills.
    • Experience serving as a strategic advisor to a senior leadership team.
    • Exceptional analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written communication across all levels in an organization.
    • Ability to think qualitatively, as well as quantitatively, to produce high quality of work reflecting attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Advanced knowledge of analytical, statistical and data visualization tools
    • Ability and willingness to travel
