The Department of Health Law, Policy, and Management at Boston University School of Public Health is seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) Project Coordinator/Research Analyst to lead and support multifaceted research activities focused on Medicaid policy, care delivery models, and equity of care. The position will be sponsored and supervised jointly by Dr. Megan Cole and Dr. Sarah Gordon. Time will be divided primarily between two grant-funded research projects. The first project will use All Payer Claims Data (APCD) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) data to study how the statewide Massachusetts Medicaid Accountable Care Organization model affects quality of care and addresses unmet social needs of patients (e.g., food insecurity, housing insecurity). The second project uses national and state-level health care claims data to examine the effects of Medicaid enrollment and eligibility policies on racial and ethnic disparities in maternal health outcomes. Combined with a robust dissemination plan, this information will provide critical evidence to inform ongoing state and federal policy-making, as two federal bills and over 20 states have introduced proposals to extend postpartum Medicaid eligibility beyond the current limit of 60 days for pregnant women. There will be opportunity for professional development to best support the career goals of the candidate. Work will be conducted remotely with regular team meetings held via Zoom. Essential Functions 1. Initiating data cleaning using large claims datasets and EHR data, including reading in datasets, merging data sets, quality checking data, and preparing data for analytic use (25%) 2. Creating analytic datasets to be used for conducting statistical analyses; this includes extracting specified cohorts, generating new variables, and collapsing data into panel format (40%) 3. Generating statistical analyses; this includes coding and running regression models and implementing more advanced statistical or econometric models with guidance and oversight (15%) 4. Contributing to manuscript writing; this entails serving as a co-author on academic papers and conference presentations through contributions to literature reviews, drafting of methods, and drafting of results (10%) 5. Participating in professional development activities to be aligned with the candidate's career goals, which may include monthly mentoring meetings; attending conferences; presenting at meetings or conferences; and/or participating in continuing education or seminars (5%) 6. Other project support activities, as needed, such as weekly team meetings, IRB application support, and coordination of stakeholder meetings and interviews (5%).
