    As one of the nation’s top schools of social work, Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) is dedicated to the pursuit of inclusive excellence in education, research, and evidence-based practice to advance social, racial, gender, and economic justice and solve the most pressing societal problems of the 21st century.  The BUSSW currently invites applications for a tenure-track position (assistant professor) beginning September 2021. We are seeking exceptional early career candidates with a commitment to research, scholarship, and teaching in the FIELD OF TRAUMA AND VIOLENCE to join our faculty in the 2021-2022 academic year.

     

    Applicants must have an earned doctorate in social work or a related discipline. We welcome scholarship reflecting a range of diverse, rigorous methodological approaches. To deepen our expertise in the area of trauma and violence, we seek applications from emerging scholars whose research focuses on:

     

    • The micro-to-macro level causes and consequences of trauma and violence (community, youth, gun, or police violence; terrorism, hate crimes, public health crises, and natural disasters)
    • The role of structural inequities, such as racism and heteropatriarchy, in the entrenchment and perpetuation of trauma and violence
    • Innovative micro-to-macro-level solutions to trauma and violence such as mechanisms of violence interruption, anti-racism intervention and policy, culturally-responsive and community-level trauma care, restorative justice practices

      

    The candidate must have the ability to teach both theory and practice courses in our Trauma & Violence specialization. This sequence, which was established in 2006, draws a large number of our on-campus students each year and is currently being extended to our on-line MSW program as well. We are dedicated to offering integrated and cutting edge training in this rapidly evolving field to work with and on behalf of diverse populations who are affected by wide ranging traumatic experiences, including those caused by structural racism, heteropatriarchy, and systemic violence.
