  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

     

    This position oversees the FSQA auditing program, including value added plants, packing facilities, co-packers and coolers. The position is also responsible for process innovation in various facets of the business by leveraging data generated from the audit process to drive continuous improvement. Position is responsible for ensuring there is a documented process for every FSQA metric in the plant &/or packing facilities to include communication, training and auditing.

     

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

     

    • Ensure compliance to Federal, State and local regulations
    • Increase awareness, evaluation and compliance of FSQA programs. This includes making recommendations for follow-up completion, providing training content for FSQA training and communication of FSQA expectations.
    • Create and maintain FSQA processes & procedures to ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices
    • Responsible for performing/assigning processing floor centric audits, maintaining records of results and analysis of results for report out to the business.
    • Assist in handling customer food safety related complaints
    • Responsible for analysis and verification of Food Safety and Quality Plans including assessment of results
    • Facilitate adherence to programs for - packing houses, co-packers, coolers and VA sites
    • Serve as a resource for the business
    • Facilitate compliance with third party auditing schemes
    • Serve as a resource for equipment commissioning & decommissioning activities
    • Leverage internal and external data to drive continuous improvement
    • Evaluate and recommend new processes that will increase efficiencies for the business
    • Follow all food safety requirements and GMP’s as applicable for this position
    • Ensure the integrity and continued operations of the food safety system in the event of organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

     

    • 3-5 years’ experience in the food industry, with 1-3 years in supervision, in a FSQA capacity
    • HACCP and PCQI trained and demonstrated mastery of GFSI auditing schemes
    • Must have supervisory and training skills
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required
    • Knowledge of related Federal and State regulations
    • Competency in Microsoft Office, and other software as applicable
    • Excellent communications skills. Bilingual in Spanish/English is desirable
    • Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
    • Must have the ability to make decisions, maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, understand and follow posted work rules/ procedures and to accept constructive criticism

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

     

    • Ability to maneuver around an array of equipment, bend, stoop, climb stairs, lift up to 25 pounds, identify and distinguish colors, and work in a cold environment.
    • Will have some exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
