Shenandoah University seeks a professional and enthusiastic individual to serve as a Student Mental Health Clinician in the Counseling Center office. This is a 10-month benefitted position based on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.
Shenandoah University’s Student Mental Health Clinician's primary role is providing individual and group counseling for SU students. Successful candidates will be experienced providing treatment in many of the following areas: crisis intervention, brief therapy, working with diverse populations, sexual assault, mood disorders, and/or self-injury.
The Student Mental Health Clinician utilizes a counseling approach that responds with sensitivity and confidentiality to the diverse needs of the SU students. This Clinician develops and evaluates psycho-educational programs to various student groups and the campus community members as well as coordinates outreach activities to students. This employee will provide referrals, maintain student records and Counseling Center statistics, and resource information.
As a fully-participating member of the Division of Student Affairs, this clinician structures all interventions and activities with a goal of enhancing students’ abilities to successfully progress toward degree completion and to maintain a healthy, productive life after graduation. The Student Mental Health Clinician position reports directly to the Counseling Center Director.
