Assesses plans, organizes, implements and evaluates orientation and educational programs for Department of Nursing Employees. Fulfills responsibilities of an RN Nurse Planner for Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) through possession of authority, accountability, and responsibility for adherence to Texas Nurses Association (TNA) and American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation (ANCC-COA) criteria in individual educational activities. The functions of the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) are to provide nursing professional development and education services by assisting nurses in preparing for contemporary practice and supporting them in acquiring knowledge and skills to competently collect patient health data, analyze the data to determine diagnoses, identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient, develop a plan of care that outlines interventions to attain the expected outcomes, implement the interventions identified in the plan of care, and evaluate the patient’s progress toward attainment of the outcomes in the pediatric care settings. The CNE will also be involved in the development and education services of the unlicensed assistive personnel. The CNE will be expected to work as a bedside nurse as applicable. Nursing practices at El Paso Children’s Hospital emphasize theory based nursing that is evidenced based utilizing a Shared Governance model for decision-making.
