    The Database Administrator will advance the capabilities of the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) by providing maintenance support for Database and Data Management Systems.  WPAFB is located in Dayton OH and the work will be performed on base at NASIC. Regular on-site support for this function requires a 40-hour, dayshift workweek.  Ad-hoc requirements or high profile events may occasionally necessitate off-hour support.

    JOB DUTIES:

    • Ensures the readiness and availability of databases necessary for production. This includes database patches to ensure systems are kept in-accordance-with Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert software and firmware upgrades and patches, and includes heavy scripting and database administration support.

    • Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications.

    • Updates existing and creates new documentation explaining the technical configuration, system requirements, and system interfaces.

    • Supports technical and operational meetings on system status and issues.

    • Obtains approval from appropriate configuration control and compliance boards before implementing changes.

    • Perform database programming for new and existing systems.

    • Write scripts, stored procedures and functions for database system.

    • Perform quality assurance tests for ensuring data integrity and quality.

    • Resolve database problems, queries and error reports in accurate and timely manner.

    • Interact with business teams to understand project requirements.

    • Coordinate with team members to perform database programming based on project requirements.

    • Assist in planning and implementing the data integration and data migration activities.

    • Provide valid inputs in database architectural discussions.

    • Troubleshoot complex database issues in a timely fashion.

    • Provide programmatic guidance and support to team members when needed.

    • Provide project updates and metrics to Managers on regular basis.

    • Assist in preparing database functional and design specifications.

    • Test database systems and perform bug fixes.

    • Maintain accurate and complete database programming documentations.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Database Management, Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant technical field
    • Active TS/SCI Clearance
    • Security+ certification

    Required Experience

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in database administration/programming.

    • Database Security expertise

    • Experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle Database programming, Database Management, Data Maintenance

    • Knowledge of Information Assurance Policies

    • Experience with RedHat, CentOS, and Windows operating systems

     

    DESIRED EXPERIENCE

    • Experience with any of the following government networks: JWICS, SIPRnet, NIPRnet,  Tungsten or Zinc
