    Position Details Position Information Position Title Part-Time Admissions Information Specialist, Office of Undergraduate Admissions Campus Bloomington Department ADMISSIONS ORG (BL-ADMS-IUBLA) Department Information The Office of Admissions is the front-facing department to the public for undergraduate recruitment for the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The Office of Admissions is responsible for recruiting the freshman class each year, counseling prospective students and their families about the admissions process, providing accurate information to the public about our recruiting requirements and standards, and marketing Indiana University Bloomington. We are looking for an outgoing individual who is excited to be a Hoosier, to fill a part-time client support position. Job Summary Serves as a part-time information specialist and front line resource to current and potential students, campus representatives and the public; and ensures excellent customer service is delivered to all guests, over the phone, by email and face-to-face. Provides support for applying for admission and preliminary information on matters related to financial aid, scholarship eligibility, housing, orientation and student accounts; as well as other university related policies, procedures, and programs. Answers inbound and outbound communications, schedules visitors for tours and information sessions, greets daily visitors, answers basic admissions related questions, and collaborates on recruitment team projects. Required Qualifications REQUIRED : High school diploma or GED and two years of experience working in a fast-paced, complex customer service area. Proven ability to perform various tasks simultaneously with consistently high accuracy while dealing with the public in a high volume, high stress environment and have a consistent positive temperament with continuous public interaction. Demonstrated computer skills including accurate keyboarding skills and competent knowledge of Word, Excel, Access and Outlook and other tools, office equipment, and resources; ability to maintain the privacy of confidential files; and is comfortable working with the public. Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with a wide variety of individuals. Possess a high degree of knowledge, tolerance for stress, attention to detail, and adaptability to exhibit competence, patience, and tact in a fast paced environment; and demonstrated analytical ability in resolving both administrative and procedure problems. Initiative, reliability, flexibility and positive attitude while handling stressful situations and confidential information and materials essential as is promptness, dependable attendance, and a strong work ethic. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree; experience in a higher education setting; working knowledge of the universitys admission requirements, academic programs and IU systems policies and procedures; enthusiasm for ensuring that the Hoosier tradition continues with future freshman classes. Working Conditions / Physical Demands Position requires a high degree of tolerance for stress, flexibility in operational duties, extended time sitting at a computer and wearing a headset; some visual, neck and shoulder strain is common due to the intensity of the work. Some heavy lifting is common.
