Position Details Position Information Position Title Custodial Area Team Leader Campus IUPUI - Indianapolis Department CAMPUS FACILITY SERVICE GENERA (IN-CFSG-IUINA) Department Information Job Summary The office of Campus Facility Services is seeking a Custodial Area Team Leader. This position will provide structure and oversight for entry-level employees. Ensure all assignments and schedules are covered as assigned by the Supervisor to maintain adequate service to all coverage areas. Prioritize work assignments within a given routine and assigns tasks. Pass out keys and supplies to employees at the start of the shift and collect keys at the end of the shift. Allow personnel in to locked areas as needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Monitor work for quality, accuracy, and completeness to ensure compliance with departmental sanitation standards. Respond to trouble calls as received from the Call Center and follow through to completion. Manage and control equipment and chemicals assigned to a given routine. Fill out forms and prepare appropriate written reports as directed by the Supervisor. Maintain an inventory of cleaning material, supplies, equipment, and submit order request for replacement of items used or needing repair to supervision. Inspect assigned areas and equipment to ensure that the quality of care is consistent with departmental standards. Provide feedback and reports staff concerns, issues significant to maintaining high cleaning standards in assigned areas, and any need for building maintenance to the Supervisor for appropriate action. Train new employees on cleaning procedures, equipment, products, departmental policies, and standards. Attend department and University meetings and training efforts as assigned. Follow all department and University rules and regulations, policies and procedures. Perform routine custodial responsibilities such as but not limited to, dry and wet mopping, carpet vacuuming, scrub and strip resilient tile floor finish, cleaning rest rooms, removing and disposing of waste, cleaning desks, shelves, glass, doors, etc., any or part of the above list to be performed on a limited basis each day. Provide coverage for other Custodial Area Team Leaders as needed. Fill in for custodial vacancies if assigned by the Supervisor. Periodically perform snow removal during snow months as assigned. May drive University vehicles as needed. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. This position will work Sunday Thursday 10pm- 6:30am. Required Qualifications REQUIRED : General knowledge at the high school level plus 1 year custodial experience. The successful candidate should possess knowledge of effective leadership techniques; knowledge of general cleaning procedures and equipment; ability to lead people and processes; ability to work in team environment, and to interact and communicate with a wide variety of people; ability to read, write English, make judgment decisions and calculations for mixing chemicals; ability to operate and use standard cleaning equipment and materials; ability to perform work that requires medium to heavy physical effort; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to use a computer; ability to perform work in safe and efficient manner; ability to follow safe work practices in biohazard and/or hazardous waste cleanup (i.e. bloodborne pathogens; toxic, reactive, explosive and ignitable laboratory wastes, corrosive wastes from cleaning operations; other miscellaneous wastes from across campus). May involve training and tests in hazardous waste management; Demonstrated leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Valid Drivers License and ability to meet the university driving privileges policy.
