Student Employee - Career Services, Marketing/Outreach Intern - Job

General Summary The Marketing/Outreach Intern will assist in the
promotion of Career Center events and initiatives for students, alumni,
and employers and will create marketing materials, advertisements,
bulletin boards, etc. to publicize career-related events. This intern
will also conduct outreach to students through assistance with Dont
Cancel Class program, represent the Career Center at various campus
events, and assist at career events, such as job fairs, dining etiquette
and networking events, etc. This position is for 10-15 hours/week, at a
rate of $10 per hour. Principal Duties & Responsibilities - Promote
office services through select Dont Cancel Class classroom
presentations, workshops, and various campus events. - Develop contacts
with academic departments, student organizations, and offices across
campus to market programs and services. We would like to develop a
program for student athletes and student organizations to spread the
word more about the career center. - Work with career center staff, and
at times, Creative Services to plan, design, and implement publicity
materials for career-related events including job fairs, etiquette
dinner, and for general office promotion. - Work with career center
staff to decide on and coordinate at least one additional campus event
(professional dress seminar, networking event, mock interview day, etc.)
- Coordinate career center mobile career center in Zollner, Cunningham,
Academic Center and/or the cafeteria to educate students. - Write
content for various publications such as university calendars,
department newsletter, etc. - Demonstrate initiative by assessing career
center needs and proposing new projects not yet identified by staff. -
May have the opportunity to provide basic resume information and
critiques for students. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Indiana Tech student with desire to interact with other students,
professors, and staff, as well as community members and area employers.
Demonstrated skill in written and verbal communication, especially
presentation skills, organizational skills, written skills, and computer
skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, Publisher). Creative ability in
designing materials. Student must be reliable and a self-starter.
Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills with the
ability to work well with office staff. Rate of Pay: $10 per hour 10-15
hours/week Preferred majors: Preferably a student studying Marketing,
Communication, Elementary Education, Business, or Psychology. Experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point - Customer Services
(preferred but not required) Working Conditions - Desk work - Walking
around campus in inclement weather giving tours or visiting other
departments when needed - Potentially lift boxes up to 50 lbs. -
Business casuals to casual attire (appropriate for work setting)
