    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Field Engineer to support our renewable energy field services team. As a Field Engineer, the individual will support a variety of engineering and construction related field work tasks associated with the development and construction of wind, solar, energy storage and power delivery projects across the US. 

    Westwood’s Field Engineer role is a fast paced, dynamic, and rewarding role that offers (EITs) the opportunity to experience engineering and construction in action.  Individuals that excel in this role are passionate about their work, enjoy complex problem solving, and enjoy interacting and learning from others.  Working under the direction of Westwood’s professional and field services management you will gain valuable engineering experience that counts towards their professional engineering (PE) licensure.  In addition, the position offers an opportunity for higher compensation and increased access to travel when compared to based engineering roles.   

     

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    • Operate unmanned aerial systems (drones) to obtain aerial imagery and project data.
    • Utilize advanced GPS equipment to locate and map objects and utilities in the field.
    • Utilize iPads to collect data via a cloud based data collection platform.
    • Operate utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) in a safe manner while performing field work.
    • Perform load tests on installed solar foundation piles across the US.
    • Support data processing and reporting associated with project field work.
    • Collaborate with engineering and construction personnel to develop and implement innovative and effective solutions.
    • Communicate directly with clients, engineers, contractors, and third parties involved with Westwood’s projects.
    • Work closely with construction teams to ensure that work is done in accordance with engineering details, specifications, and permits.
    • Review construction documents and confirm they are adequate, followed, and filed for the necessary construction activities.
    • Perform periodic inspection of wind and solar equipment and review contractor or manufacture inspection documentation.

     

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
    • Strong background in leading and promoting safe work environments.
    • Experience with wind and solar construction and/or engineering is a plus.
    • Valid driver’s license with a favorable driving record.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong aptitude in the use of technology.
    • Positive and professional attitude with the ability to solve complex challenges as they arise.
    • An interest and/or passion for energy related infrastructure, in particular wind and solar generation.
    • Willingness to work onsite in variable weather conditions for extended duration. Projects may be anywhere within the US and onsite duration may range from weeks to months.  
    • Food and lodging allowances to be provided.
    • For extended duration projects, travel home to be provided in accordance with company policies.

  • Qualifications
    • Quality oversight of contract manufacturing operations of drug substance and drug product for commercial and clinical trial materials.
    • Responsible to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and company procedures for commercial and clinical trial material.
    • Responsible for material disposition of commercial product and clinical trial materials to support clinical trials including generation of Certificate of Analysis.
    • Oversee and monitor Quality Assurance processes with focus on master production and control records to ensure that production and control operations are adequately defined and that good manufacturing practices are utilized for the manufacture of drug substance and drug product at CMOs for commercial and clinical supplies.
    • Development, review, and approval of the Validation method and process Master Plan and Validation Protocols, executed protocols, and summary reports at both Akebia and CMOs.
    • Oversees and/or Performs   assessments and QA approval of deviation and investigations including OOS investigations for commercial and clinical products
    • Participate and/or Conduct Risk Assessment and / or Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)  activities for both Design and Process FMEA's
    • Define and implement, as appropriate, quality standards, systems, and metrics for GMP Quality operations.
    • Compile, organize, analyze and present GMP Quality metrics identifying risk factors and risk mitigations to Senior Management
    • Participate in preparation for and execution of regulatory inspections. Ensure observations are addressed appropriately and completed as required and on time.
    • Ensure internal compliance to 21 CFR Part 11 and relevant global computerized system regulations for document management and related GxP computerized systems.
    • Manage review of product release and stability data, develop and support process and method tech transfers and validations.
    • Manage and review of GMP supplier audits as applicable.
    • Lead quality aspects of and provide quality support on tech transfers and GMP and/or related investigations.
    • Ensure Quality Management Reviews and periodic product reviews
    • Key participant in Material Review Board (MRB) including review and recommendation for material disposition and corrective actions.
    • Responsible for managing and developing staff in order to accomplish agreed upon Goals and Objectives for the functional area.
    • Responsible for budget objectives.
    • Other duties as assigned such as Quality representative on project management teams.
