JOB SUMMARY
The Public Health Educator is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of The Wright Center For Community Health (TWCCH) sponsored public health and education programs, with a focus on community outreach and increasing awareness of the organization’s mission in its five-county service area. This position may require flexible working hours including evenings, weekends and holidays. Valid driver’s license is required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conduct community needs assessments, gather data on health status and educational needs, and design programs to address such needs
- Develop and maintain programs with the community, schools, organizations and employers to increase awareness of services
- Represent TWCCH in the community; establish and maintain working relationships with regional and community partners
- Meet regularly with the clinical and administrative leadership
- Prepare weekly activity reports and quarterly program/progress reports
- Attend appropriate meetings and conferences as required
- Other tasks as assigned to accomplish the mission, vision, and strategic initiatives of TWCCH
- Develop and participate in programming for major employers (e.g., health fairs) to coordinate screenings and refer individuals seeking a primary care provider (PCP)
- Coordinate community, school-based screenings, and vaccine clinics
- Educate the public on preventative screenings
- Develop an educational program on Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and the role in community and individuals’ health
- Analyze public health legislation, regulations, executive directives, and departmental policies to determine their relevance to the organization's plans, programs, and activities
Required Experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred. Advanced education preparation in education, health sciences, or related fields a plus
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Experience in conducting community health assessments and research methodologies recommended
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills which include MS Office Suite
- Should have good planning and organizational skills, and be able to work independently
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a diverse population
- Must have reliable transportation and willing to travel. Work will be in any of the 5-county region that includes Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties
