    Global Diving & Salvage, Inc. is the largest diving contractor on the West Coast, based out of Seattle, WA, a leading provider of marine construction and infrastructure support services in the United States, and an internationally recognized casualty responder.

     

    The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, inputting, and assisting in the accurate valuing of company inventory, services, and overhead.

     

    POSITION ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Perform various cost accounting functions including full absorption standard costing, analysis and maintenance of material, labor and overhead rates
    • Investigate project variances and produce weekly variance reports for management
    • Produce weekly project profitability reports for management
    • Create project-related invoices for customers
    • Communicate with clients and suppliers regarding invoices
    • Close out accounting for projects upon project completion
    • Prepare and reconcile job cost reports (WIP) on a monthly basis
    • Coordinate with Project Managers to create and enter purchase orders with accurate job cost application and codes
    • Assist Project Managers in reviewing invoices, subcontractor pay applications or other documents and verify contract and change order values, previous payments, retainage, numerical calculations, lien waivers prior to the initiation of the approval and payment process as needed
    • Track direct project costs on a daily, weekly or monthly basis
    • Allocate indirect costs (overhead) to projects on a monthly basis
    • Create work orders (project) number with sub-job to support proper cost tracking based on project breakdown structure
    • Reforecast project costs with project manager on a weekly basis
    • Manage and execute special projects as assigned
    • Create month-end journal entries and supporting analysis
    • Assist with preparation for financial reporting
    • Assist estimating group on the projection of costs for upcoming bids
    • Prepare, maintain and publish tariffs rates
    • Update equipment and labor burdened cost data workbooks and NAV database (accounting system)
    • Audit cost coding from payroll and accounts payable
    • Create work order accounts in the accounting system
    • Travel on-site as project accountant as needed
    • Compile information for internal and external audits, as needed
    • Other duties as assigned

     

     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION

    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field

     

     

    EXPERIENCE

    3+ years in accounting field Experience with cost accounting

     

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

    Excellent oral and written communication skills Advanced organizational skills

    Strong attention to detail

    Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness

    Excellent interpersonal and team skills Excellent Microsoft Excel Skills

    Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills for other programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)

     

    PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Perform work in an office setting Ability to lift 30 lbs

    Perform work in a field setting as needed on projects Travel as needed for projects, 10-30% anticipated
