    Title: #T1738 Part-time Tutor Coordinator Job Category: Staff College Name: Jefferson Community and Technical College Campus Location: Louisville, KY Department: Learning Commons Summary: The Jefferson Community and Technical College Learning Commons has an opening for part-time Tutors Coordinator. Duties: Located on the second floor of the Smith Library at the Downtown Campus, our team of 50 librarians, faculty, peer tutors, and staff served over 1,000 Jefferson students during academic year 2017-18. Reporting to the Director of Tutoring Services, the part-time Tutoring Coordinator coordinates the delivery of one-on-one academic support services including tutoring, research assistance, and learning skills coaching. Responsibilities include: -Maintaining an environment that fosters independent learning, inclusion, and respect for the dignity of every student. -Coordinating the availability of faculty, peer tutors, and librarians to develop and maintain a service schedule that ensures tutoring coverage for math, writing, and additional subjects, and research assistance. -Assisting the Director with tutor recruitment, interviewing, orientation, and training. -Providing day-to-day supervision, mentoring, coaching, and evaluation of peer tutors and welcome desk staff. -Assisting with planning, managing and staffing special events. -Facilitating outreach activities including classroom visits, distribution of promotional materials, and contacting students by phone and email. -Triaging service and staffing issues through to their successful resolution, including tutoring tutees and staffing the welcome desk as needed. -Assisting with payroll and budget reconciliation. -Collaborating with tutors and staff to maintain the tutoring areas (e.g. supplies, books and handouts, cleaning schedules, maintenance work-orders, technology issues, etc.) -Providing administrative support including compiling data, preparing reports, maintaining tutoring files, and reviewing session reports for accuracy and timeliness. Qualifications: -Associates degree or equivalent credit hours if currently enrolled in a four-year degree program. Bachelors degree preferred. -One to three years of experience tutoring college students. -Supervisory experience. -Experience and sensitivity working with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with prevailing tutoring theories and practices (e.g. tutoring cycle, writing center theory, inclusive instructional strategies, questioning techniques, strengths-based approaches, cognitive strategies, CRLA curriculum, etc.). Strong problem solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills including the ability to present in front of groups and compose written communications tailored to different audiences. Ability to carry out our mission, vision, and values while adhering to established policies and procedures. Hourly rate: $13.50 - $16.00 per hour, DOEE. This is a part-time position scheduled for 20-22 hours per week Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:45am and 4:00pm. Occasionally, Friday hours will be required.
