Reporting to the Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach, the Assistant Coach is responsible for all administrative and organizational aspects of the program. The Assistant Coach must operate within the guidelines of an NCAA Atlantic Sun program and within the mission of the University and its philosophy of intercollegiate athletics. The coach will guide and actively encourage student-athletes to succeed academically, acquire a degree, and represent the University with the highest integrity. The coach is also responsible for the recruitment of student-athletes, adhering to NCAA, Conference, and University regulations regarding recruiting, admission standards, and eligibility; monitoring student-athlete academic progress; and assisting in the establishment of effective media relations. The coach will play a role, as assigned by the head coach, in fundraising activities and serve as a representative of the University to the outside community when appropriate.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
- Direct involvement with all administrative and organizational aspects of the men’s and women’s soccer teams under the supervision of the Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach
- Assist with coaching strategies to maintain a highly competitive NCAA Division I soccer program
- Develop training activities and teaching methods
- Devise and execute development plans for the goalkeeping unit
- Lead and devise goalkeeping training sessions
- Lead the programs in its alumni engagement and growth and complete all duties associated with alumni engagement
- Support the management of equipment (ordering, stock take, ensuring the program has what is necessary and required)
- Lead the program’s social media pages and grow its followship
- Ability to travel, recruit, and evaluate prospective student athletes
- Liaison with marketing and promotions, facilities, equipment manager, compliance office, and student services
- Coordinate preseason housing and meals, travel, and assist with budgetary tasks
- Assist with unofficial and official recruiting visits
- Perform other site and position specific duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Computer skills are a must
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; and a commitment to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the NCAA and ASUN Conference as required
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, admissions and financial aid officers, fellow employees, program boosters, and the public
- A working knowledge of video and recruiting software, as well as other computer software (Word, Excel, etc.) and social media
- Support the University’s Mission and Values in their role
