KIPP LA currently operates 17 schools and serves approximately 7,200 students. Our team is expanding rapidly; over the next five years, we will more than double the number of students we serve. The Teacher Apprentice is a classroom teacher, who is responsible for classroom culture, lesson execution, lesson internalization, and lesson planning that can be accomplished during a school day. Teacher Apprentices work with a grade level, a content area, or a specific lead teacher in a KIPP LA school to ensure students are mastering content and getting as much as they can out of the school day. The Teacher Apprentice reports to and is evaluated by the School Leadership while working closely with a lead teacher. The support a Teacher Apprentice receives is dynamic and focused, building their skills in instructional skill and content knowledge strategically throughout the year. Teacher Apprentices are evaluated using the expectations from the same rubric, scoring, and goal setting as lead teachers at KIPP LA, but their expectations are scaffolded based on the skills they are responsible for in their classrooms.
