    The Department of Mass Communication, Advertising and Public Relations at Boston University seeks to hire a Non-Tenure-Track Professor of the Practice in Public Relations.

     

    The ideal candidate for this position would be a veteran and esteemed public relations executive, ideally someone who has had a profound and enduring influence on the public relations industry.

    BU offers degrees in public relations at the graduate (Master of Science in Public Relations) and undergraduate (Bachelor of Science in Public Relations) level. It is our intention to attempt to recruit a senior public relations executive with an international reputation to this position. BU enjoys an international reputation for excellence in public relations research and education and is home to the world’s first university degree program in public relations. 

     

    Boston University identifies “Professors of the Practice,” as “officers of instruction who are or have been distinguished practitioners in their respective professions and whose primary responsibilities lie in teaching, mentoring and service.” The successful candidate will join an internationally famous public relations faculty that includes two other Professors of the Practice in Public Relations. One of these professors spent 12 years as Chairman and CEO of one of the world’s largest public relations agencies, and the other served more than a decade as the Chief Communications Officer for a Fortune 50 company.

     

    Established in 1947, the College of Communication (COM) at Boston University is a large college with three departments: Mass Communication, Advertising and Public Relations; Journalism, and Film & Television. COM’s student population exceeds 2,200 in its B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs. COM integrates a strong liberal arts core with a focus on preparing students for careers as communication professionals.
