    Trustmark Health Benefits is seeking an Underwriter. The key purpose of this position is to provide underwriting support to a defined group of new as well as renewal self-funded clients specifically in the stop loss area.  Builds strong relationships with stop loss carriers to maximize account retention, renewal increases and regional growth.  Internally this position works closely with Client Management, Sales and Claims.  Externally this position interacts with Brokers and Stop Loss Carriers.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    Develops and maintains strong relationships with stop loss carriers to negotiate best possible terms for clients in order to maximize Trustmark account retention and renewal increases.

    Partners with Client Management, Sales and Brokers to address clients concerns and issues regarding pricing and stop loss for both renewals and new client business.  This includes:

    • Analyzes total book of business and recommends compelling pricing options and strategies to retain or attract new business
    • Analyzes monthly reports to create solutions that address concerns
    • Completes renewal activities including cost renewal, summary analyst, claim project costs, plans changes, renewal presentations, policy review and execution
    • Creates target pricing and makes appropriate carrier selection recommendations

    Prepares and maintains quote spreadsheets, stop loss data and historical client information used for business analysis and client presentations.

    Other duties as needed/assigned.

     

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • Minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience
    • Analytical skills including the ability to make recommendations
    • Ability to problem solve and think outside of the box to create customized solutions
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, along with all levels of the organization
    • Keen attention to detail including accuracy, thoroughness and consistency
    • Ability to shift priorities and focus on new task or challenges as needed
    • Ability to gain trust and negotiate diplomatically and tactfully
    • Proficient in MS Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
    • Prior experience with SalesForce is a plus

    In order to be considered for this position, please include a cover letter in your application materials.
