Instructional Production Services (IPS), is part of Digital Learning & Innovation (DL&I) at Boston University. The manager of the IPS team is a leader who has demonstrated success in the building and management of multi-faceted teams. This individual is knowledgeable in the area of online/hybrid instructional strategies and has a proven record as a program/project manager in the instructional context of higher education, non-profit, or industry. As the program/project manager, this individual has knowledge of the instructional design process as well as demonstrated experience with the actual production of instructional materials, from multi-media artifacts (audio, video, animations) to teaching and learning materials (learning objects).
The IPS manager oversees a growing team of digital learning designers and educational multimedia producers. The manager is accountable for all IPS’s projects and supports team members and university partners in each phase of project development and course building to ensure the success of digital learning projects and new edx programs across BU. Focusing on system-level processes, the manager promotes effective practices across projects by helping to optimize workflow and project communication.
The role includes significant and active collaboration both internally with multimedia production groups on the IPS team and platform administrators in the DL&I office, along with external on-campus project partners from collaborating colleges and departments at BU. The IPS Manager takes on the role of an entrepreneurial leader who jointly with the DL&I leadership develops the future of IPS through careful planning, proactive stakeholder management, flexibility, and diplomatic positioning within the complex environment of a large research university.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team management, supervision, resource planning, and leadership; planning for development of the IPS team to meet project demands.
Program leadership through supporting functions across sub-units, interfacing with clients and staff in strategic online/hybrid modality instructional materials projects. This includes standards-based project documentation, client and vendor relationships, and evangelizing innovative and transformative approaches to instructional needs.
Scaling processes and building system-based approach to support each program in
Providing community leadership in conjunction with the other units of the DL&I in the field of online/hybrid instruction.
Representing of DL&I and IPS in presentations, publishing, dissemination of knowledge and findings in interfacing organizations, conferences, and fora.
