    The Digital Education Incubator’s Senior Project Manager (SPM) serves as an integral member of the Incubator’s team, a unit of BU created to address challenges and harness opportunities associated with the transformation of the higher education landscape brought forth by digital learning technologies. The SPM facilitates and guides a small team of project managers in overseeing the development and execution of a range of innovative projects through their lifecycles. Departmental projects include but are not limited to areas of lifelong and professional learning; advising and mentoring; development of portals and communities to strengthen various aspects of Boston University’s residential experience and global standing; and experimentation with novel and emergent educational technologies. The ideal candidate brings to this position a combination of project/program management expertise and high degree of foundational familiarity with trends, best practices and critical challenges in the field of education. The Senior Project Manager reports to the Director of the Incubator and works closely with other staff of the Incubator, the Digital Learning & Innovation (DL&I) teams, and with Boston University faculty and staff.

     

    Responsibilities include the following:

     

    • Drawing on trends and challenges in higher education, collaborate with members of the DL&I teams and other relevant stakeholders to determine the focus and scope of Incubator’s call for proposals. Hold campus-wide information sessions and drive outreach efforts as related to the above. Manage intake of project proposals and facilitate the development of new projects.
    • Supervise and guide a small team of Incubator Project Managers in their day-to-day work to: facilitate project meetings; determine and understand the scope and needs of projects; create or support the development of timelines and work plans; review materials and documentation as shared by other members of the project teams toward making project resourcing recommendations; help project teams to prioritize project activities and deliverables; liaise with other departments and teams toward reaching project objectives.
    • Throughout project lifecycle, provide guidance to Project Managers by drawing on best practices of how to lead and navigate change in the field of digital education.
    • Monitor project progress and oversee the preparation and presentation of project organization and communication documentation, including project plans, agreements and related information, to the Director of the Incubator and other stakeholders.
    • Provide guidance to project teams, drawing on best practices of how to lead and navigate change in the field of digital education. Address organizational challenges to maximize collaboration and timely product delivery.
    • Make recommendations on current and future course of action; proactively identify and manage issues and risks; and make recommendations for improving team processes.
    • Drive consensus and help ensure project success/Support the project teams, including the Incubator staff, through creative problem-solving, obstacle removal, facilitation, capacity building and communication, drawing on core values of mutual respect and collaboration.
    • Facilitate and ensure appropriate involvement and communication between individuals and teams as dictated by project demand.
    • Other duties as necessitated by project demand.

     

     

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    Must have Master’s degree in Education and 5 years of project coordinating/project management experience, including the following: working with faculty on educational initiatives in the education field; contributing to organizational change and process improvement; communicating effectively with multiple constituencies and stakeholders; and piloting online courses and educational platforms and/or tools.
