    We are looking for a Temporary Sr. Claim Assistant in our Worcester, Massachusetts office working on our Voluntary Benefits claims. In this role, you will mainly focus on Disability and Long Term Care claims processing. You will be primarily the first contact with new disability and long term care claimants. You will also be handling calls and perform customer service, as well as sending of the appropriate initial claim and continuance claim forms.  PLEASE NOTE TRAINING WILL BE IN THE OFFICE AND AFTER TRAINING YOU WILL BE WORKING IN A HYBRID CAPACITY OF 3 DAYS IN THE OFFICE AND 2 DAYS REMOTELY.  

     

    SUMMARY: You will be thoroughly reviewing claim documentation presented, utilizing the appropriate Trustmark systems to determine the policy owner, covered member and determining if the policy/coverage is in force. If the claim documentation reflects an eligible policy owner, you will need to determine if the claim documentation is a new claim submission or additional information for an existing claim. You will also be responsible for handling all incoming and outgoing mail.  

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:     

    • Conduct incoming and outgoing telephone claim customer service, retrieval of department general voicemail box messages, update system data and other administrative activities as directed.
    • Support various administrative activities to support claim processing and day-to-day operation of department, including but not limited to claim related telephonic customer service, answering mail related questions and updating of claimant survey data.
    • Share knowledge with others through training and/or cross-training activities
    • Perform frequent pick-up & delivery of various items, including but not limited to incoming mail & packages, faxes and files to/from departmental associates.
    • Perform any/all necessary photocopying & file compilation activities to support the claim investigation and adjudication process.
    • Receive, track and distribute incoming mail.
    • Process outgoing mail & packages via USPS, UPS, FEDEX (or other express mail services).
    • Retrieve files as needed from various locations to support claim processing, auditing, etc.
    • Maintain in-house claim files – keeping closed files and/or coordinate with home office location for offsite long term storage of files. Participate in annual purge process.
    • Support notice of disability (NOD) and initial claim (ICF) processes, including establishment of claim file with all appropriate supporting documentation & previous claim files, establishing and/or updating electronic records in all appropriate mainframe and pc-based systems and assigning/delivering to claim associates.
    • Coordinate, manage & support project activities as assigned by management.
    • Order and maintain office supply levels and pre-printed claim & supplemental forms/items.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be able to work Monday to Friday from 10:30 – 7:00 pm. 
    • Must have at least 1 year of corporate office experience.
    • Typing speed of up to 50 wpm is required.
    • Ability to pick up, carry, transport and/or distribute items, such as claim files and/or incoming/outgoing packages.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Insurance or claims processing experience preferred.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point & Access preferred.
    • Very good verbal/written communication skills.
    • Excellent time management and organizations skills required.
    • Excellent phone skills required.
    • Ability to produce high volume of work in fast paced environment
    • Strong ability to work on web-based systems/applications preferred.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required
    • Strong computer and internet research skills, strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Keynote, Word, Excel, Power Point
    • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while working independently
    • Flexible yet possess a strong attention to detail
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate both written and verbally with internal associates, clients, vendors, and other executive contacts
    • The ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients is necessary.
    • Strong reporting skills and project coordination experience are essential
    • Proven experience maintaining the highest level of confidentiality in a highly visible role
    • Must be available before and after hours for phone calls as necessary
