    If you think working in-house isn't exciting, think again. Being the Manager of Digital Strategy in Boston University's in-house creative agency means the opportunity to work on websites for BU's 17 schools and colleges, hundreds of research centers and strategic initiatives. You'll collaborate with an award-winning team of creative and strategic talent as well as work with amazing university leaders and researchers. You'll be responsible for the execution of strategy efforts to transform BU's websites. You'll understand stakeholder objectives, audience needs, and content requirements through interviews, group discussions, qualitative assessments as well as other primary and secondary research as appropriate. You'll also translate research into strategic recommendations including a sites information architecture and present findings to clients. You'll collaborate with other team members including designers, developers, analysts, and account managers to deliver cohesive and feasible recommendations for website projects. You must have a solid understanding of current/emerging website trends and technologies as well as user experience and behaviors. You're strategic, curious, thoughtful, articulate, adaptable and collaborative, and have strong communication, listening, organizing and problem-solving skills.

    Required Skills

    • B.A./B.S. degree in a relevant field preferred.
    • Three to five years of related experience in marketing and/or communication field.
    • Proven management experience in a collaborative environment.
    • Must be strategic, curious, thoughtful, articulate, adaptable and collaborative, and must have strong writing, communication, listening and problem-solving skills.
    • Client-facing experience is critical; must be comfortable and polished presenting information to groups that include university leaders, and listening for feedback.
    • Must have a solid understanding of current/emerging website trends and technologies as well as user experience and behaviors.
    • Must be comfortable responding and reacting to feedback from clients as well as project team members.
    • Familiarity with WordPress platform preferred.

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Management Manage and mentor the digital strategy team.
    • Ensure positive, strategic collaboration with all other teams within the in-house agency.
    • Spearhead process improvements and proactive problem-solving when project or team issues arise.
    • Oversee quality of all work output from the team.
    • Digital Strategy Collaborate, collaborate and collaborate with project teams to develop compelling and informed website strategies that help our clients meet their business and audience needs.
    • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of solutions according to client needs and project objectives.
    • Stay abreast of the latest trends and best tools available; partner with designers and developers to assess which solutions and approaches are able to implemented into BUs web ecosystem within clients budgets.
    • Collaborate with interactive design, account management, and project management teams to develop appropriate methodology for projects.

    Approaches can include, but are not limited to:

    • Heuristic assessment of digital experiences and website content.
    • Audits of content on websites, ranging from simple sites to complex sites with 1000+ pages.
    • Audits of peer/competitor websites.
    • Planning and conducting stakeholder and audience research - focus groups, interviews and surveys.
    • Creation of user personas, journey maps and flows where appropriate.
    • Collaborate with interactive design team to develop and refine information architecture for websites.
    • Prepare and present findings and recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
    • Develop content organization guides (for clients) and content types (for the implementation team).
    • Present approved strategy to implementation team; collaborate with team to ensure that strategy is followed during implementation.
    • Be ready for anything were a nimble team and continually improving our work product and workflow.
