Two-year, renewable post-doctoral position to develop and implement advanced, innovative statistical methods to investigate the role of circulating immune cells across the spectrum of cognitive aging within a longitudinal population-based cohort. The funded project will identify circulating immune cell phenotypes that are risk factors for incident dementia and cognitive aging defined with neuropsychological testing and brain MRI scans. In addition, the study will test whether associations differ by genetic risk and investigate whether vascular factors increase susceptibility to cognitive aging. We are particularly interested in applicants who have experience and interest in: cognitive aging, immune function, missing data, trajectory and longitudinal data analyses; and cardiovascular disease phenotypes. However we will consider qualified applicants with experience in other related research areas.

The successful applicant is expected to participate actively both in collaborative research projects and applied methodological research. The work will involve close collaboration with Biostatistics faculty as well as senior investigators working with the Framingham Heart Study. The position also has potential for teaching opportunities for interested applicants. Successful applicants are highly motivated, dependable, and have excellent communication and writing skills. Strong programming skills are required in R and/or SAS. Additional background with high-level programming languages such as Python, and experience with Linux cluster computing environment is strongly preferred.
