  • Responsibilities

    The Business Manager, on behalf of the Chairman, is responsible for all non-academic administrative functions of the department. The position is responsible for supervising a staff of 10 and working to coordinate efforts of the entire staff (total staff of 18).This includes hiring, focusing, training, evaluating, and handling all personnel issues. The Business Manager works directly with a faculty of 45 on grant, financial, personnel and other administrative issues. This position leads all aspects of the department budget and departmental restricted accounts, as well as approximately $10 million in grant money. The Business Manager works closely with B&G and the Materials/Facilities Manager in facilitating all building issues. This position processes and is responsible for all faculty and staff payroll issues, as well as all research appointments (currently 37 research faculty and staff).The Business Manager handles the visa process for all research faculty, working directly with the faculty, the researcher, and the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) to procure an average of 6 visas per year. The Business Manager serves as the primary contact with administrative offices on campus.
