  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY

    _ Responsible for assisting the Kitchen Manager in the preparation of food for service in the Corporate lunchroom, complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards. Cleans work stations, kitchen, equipment and dishware._

     MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    (i.e., Policies, procedures, goals, etc. for which you are responsible.)

    • Assists the Kitchen Manager in the menu planning and cooking of all food menu items.
    • Correctly prepares all food served following recipes and/or product directions for seasoning and cooking, entrées, soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs.
    • Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients; properly uses kitchen utensils including knives to cut/slice/peel fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry and fish.
    • Ensures safe and proper food preparation and handling techniques are followed.
    • Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene and health standards are observed.
    • Complies with stablished sanitation standards, personal hygiene and health standards.
    • Daily clean- up of work stations, equipment, dishware and kitchen area. Ensures work areas are kept neat and clean at all times.
    • Stores food properly and safely, marking the date and item.
    • Maintains professional approach with co-workers and guests.
    • Fills in for other kitchen duties as requested.
    • Assists in keeping and maintaining food and temperature logs.
    • Performs other related duties as requested by Kitchen Manager.

    Required Skills

    • High School diploma or equivalent

     

    Required Experience

    • Prior food handling experience in institutional environment.
    • Experience using kitchen utensils and equipment.
    • Food handlers certification
    • Must be reliable, dependable and able to follow instructions.
    • Good communication and organizational skills.
    • WORK HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This job operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, coffee machine, mixer and knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire and noise.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, and occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
