  • Responsibilities

    We have an opening for a full time Statistical Programmer with R and SAS proficiency to help carry out clinical and epidemiological research studies in arthritis, musculoskeletal disease and pain using large existing datasets. We are an internationally leading NIH-funded research group. The candidate will have the opportunity to join an outstanding group of supportive and collaborative researchers tasked with how to prevent and/or treat these common disabling conditions.    

    Primarily responsible for designing, developing, and executing statistical analysis leveraging research study databases.

    Anticipated Duties include:

    • Creating, modifying, and maintaining R and SAS programs using advanced expertise in utilizing R base and packages and SAS base and macros to meet the programming needs of investigators.
    • Extracting and manipulating data from large cohort study databases with R or SAS to create analytic datasets to meet research projects requirements.
    • Designing, executing, interpreting, and reporting the results of statistical analyses with R and SAS in writing and with tables and graphs when appropriate for manuscripts or conference presentations.
    • Maintaining and updating existing datasets in R or SAS, merging existing datasets with future data, and managing the documentation and data dictionaries for dataset changes.
    • Attending study meetings and communicating with investigators about analysis plans for research projects and grant developments.

    Required Skills

    • Master’s Degree or higher in epidemiology, statistics, or quantitative sciences
    • 1-3 Years’ Experience
    • Excellent R and SAS skills with strong written and oral English-language, the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced multitasking environment, the ability to work independently and as part of a team are required.
    • Expertise in linear, non-linear, and survival analyses and modeling of correlated data.
    • Familiarity with mixed-effects modeling, latent class modeling, and concepts of causal inference in observational research and mediation analysis.
