    Trustmark Health Benefits is seeking an Underwriting Support/Sales Support associate to support our West Region business.  Depending on location of candidate, this position could be a full-time remote position.  THE KEY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION IS TO PROVIDE MARKETING, SALES, AND UNDERWRITING SUPPORT TO NEW AS WELL AS RENEWAL SELF-FUNDED CLIENTS. Builds strong relationships with stop loss carriers to maximize account retention, renewal increases and regional growth. Internally this position works closely with Client Management, Sales and Claims. Externally this position interacts with Brokers and Stop Loss Carriers.

     

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Coordinates responses to Requests for Proposals and proposal preparation which includes reviewing all prospect data, creating target pricing, coordinating Network analysis with Managed Care, coordinating the completion of questionnaires with marketing support, submitting RFPs to the appropriate stop loss markets, and negotiating with the stop loss markets
    • Coordinates client renewal process which includes creating target pricing, renewal presentations packages, policy review and execution, submitting RFPs to the appropriate stop loss markets and negotiating with the stop loss markets.  Analyze renewal report for stop loss
    • Develops and builds strong relationships with stop loss carriers and negotiates best possible terms for clients in order to maximize Trustmark Health Benefits account retention and renewal increases
    • Assist in the preparation of presentations for client meetings and prospect meetings
    • Prepares and maintains quote spreadsheets, stop loss data, and historical client information used for business analysis and client presentations
    • Supports other Health Benefits departments, vendors, and brokers as needed to prepare new and renewal business quotes
    • Communicates carrier policy and procedure changes to Client Management
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

    • Must have 3-5 years of underwriting/RFP marketing experience.
    • Experience working in partially self-funded or fully self-funded required.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook & PowerPoint
    • Understanding of medical terminology is preferred
    • Understanding of Stop Loss and Underwriting is a plus.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal including the ability to communicate and interact with clients, organizational leaders and customers on a daily basis.
    • Ability to make decisions, ask questions and challenge process when appropriate.
    • Capable of organizing and prioritizing a multitude of demands made by clients, brokers and internal staff.
    • Pro-active in communicating and find answers or solutions required.

  • Qualifications

    Master’s degree in Public Health, Education or Social Work. 3-5 years previous work experience in community program delivery preferably in both the non-profit health sector and academic research setting. This position must be able to work well with a great variety of people, from community members within the communities surrounding BMC, to students, research staff and Principal Investigators.
