The Graduate Academic Administrator manages all aspects of the graduate program in Chemistry from admission to graduation. This mission-critical position supports two faculty program directors, works directly with graduate students, and interfaces with the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and other University Offices to support a cohort of more than 120 graduate students.
Admissions: In collaboration with the faculty Director of Graduate Admissions and the Admissions Committee, the position coordinates the annual recruiting effort from application to admissions. The Administrator is also responsible for organizing events including the Graduate Recruiting Open House as well as orientation activities for newly arrived students.
Program Management & Development: The Administrator works with the Director of Graduate Studies and the Graduate Committee to support admitted students, tracking student progress and ensuring that students understand and satisfy program requirements on the path to graduation. The Administrator is a key partner to students and faculty in the departments pursuit of its long-term goal of increased recruitment and successful retention of students from underrepresented groups in the STEM field.
Administration: The Administrator partners with staff in Chemistry, the Graduate School, the Registrar's office and elsewhere to manage the logistics of the program, including registration, financial support, and the deployment of resources to help students satisfy their program objectives and prepare for their post-BU careers.
