Lodestar teachers are excited by the possibility of transforming the traditional model of education to be student-centered and experiential. Our teaching pedagogy is built around: Design principles of agency Students belonging to an educational community that provides personalized learning Project-based learning expeditions using Making/Arts/Design Just right instruction in math and literacy This model allows our teachers to specialize in delivering either project-based interdisciplinary learning or small-group, multi-age math or literacy instruction. About the Grade 3 Math Teacher (Maternity) Role We are looking for a math teacher who loves math and is excited to cultivate conceptual mathematical understanding, build fluency and accuracy, and provide opportunities for authentic application in our Grade 3 mathematicians. You will: be a group of students primary math instructor, delivering standards-driven, Common Core-aligned, mathematics curriculum. use formative assessment data in order to inform groupings and track student progress. Responsibilities of the Math Specialist Implement Common Core-aligned math curriculum. Use assessment data to respond to student needs. Collaborate closely with other content-based instructors around curriculum, culture, expectations, and systems in the 3/4 band. Contribute unique strengths to the development of a new school. Bilingual in Spanish a plus TIME COMMITMENT This position begins March 25th, 2019 and runs through June 14th, 2019, ending the 2018-19 School Year.
