If you are a current or prospective student applying for a student employee position, please use your student email address in the email field on the application.nbsp; JOB TITLE SUMMARY Job Title: Library Clerk Department: Library Services Evaluation Group: Staff FLSA Status: Non-exempt Location: St. Charles, MO Reports To: Coordinator, Circulation and Director, Access Services Job Summary Library Clerk will report directly to Circulation Coordinator and Director of Access Services, but will also work with Reference Librarians, Director of Reference, Interlibrary Loan Librarian, and Dean of Library Services to assist in the daily operations of the Access Services desk, answering circulation, reference and general information questions, assisting with the lending and borrowing of materials, performing stacks maintenance, assisting with Access Services Department projects, and helping train new student workers.nbsp; Library Clerk must be flexible to adjust the work schedule so as to accommodate changes in operational hours, including over University breaks and holidays and to meet staffing needs. Library Clerk must be available to work evenings and weekends. Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators Job Responsibilities * Organize library materials and information, especially by performing stacks maintenance tasks and projects, such as shifting, relabeling of end caps, determining shelving adjustments * Assist with training new student workers * Assist Circulation Coordinator and Access Services Director in overseeing work activities of student workers Service Orientation * Provide assistance with general circulation and reference questions * Provide assistance with lending and borrowing of items * Teach library users how to find and use library resources Communication, Collaboration, and Teamwork * Supports Circulation Coordinator and Interlibrary Loan Librarian with all aspects of lending and borrowing of library materials from other libraries * Recommend improvements in processes to increase administrative efficiency Planning, Organizing, and Accountability * Working with Facilities Coordinator by handling room reservations communication * Organizes and participates in special projects and programming to enhance the quality of service to the Lindenwood community Initiative, Problem-Solving, and Decision Making * Assisting with general care of Library spaces and making improvements as needed to create a positive environment * Oversee major circulation activities during off-hours, including first line customer service support, problem resolution * Perform specialized duties that require frequent independent application of general library policies and procedures Support the Mission of the University * Support the mission of the university and serve as an ambassador of the university. * Supports all library units on an as needed basis Job may require other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Required qualifications to effectively perform the job.nbsp; An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.nbsp; (Additional requirements may be designated by position.) * Associates degree * One year library experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills and abilities commonly associated with this position. * Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Must possess excellent customer service skills. * Must be highly organized and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. * Position requires the ability to problem solve, use good judgment, think critically, and communicate effectively. * Knowledge of general office hardware and computer software applications. * Knowledge of library information systems and databases preferred.
