Anticipated Start Date January 5, 2019 Anticipated End Date May 24, 2019 Work Hours Other Position Summary Information Job Description Summary Lock Haven University invites applications for a full-time, temporary position in the Department of Social Work and Counseling at the Lock Haven University main campus for AY 2018-2019 beginning January 5, 2019 and ending May 24, 2019. This position may require use of technology to assist LHUs Clearfield branch campus students with counseling issues and occasional site visits. The position will require attendance at weekly clinical staffing meetings as part of a multidisciplinary team. The position will also include conducting intakes, assessments, diagnosis and treatment plans. Additional duties will include providing daytime crisis/emergency services as needed; consultation with the Director of the University Counseling Service and participation in clinical supervision; provision of individual counseling and other modalities as needed; maintenance of a counseling caseload; completion of contact notes and other necessary documentation ( i.e. revised case conceptualizations/treatment plans, inactivation summaries etc); service on Departmental and University committees as appropriate and providing general counseling services to ( LHU ) students and requisite documentation. Evening and weekend hours will be required. Essential Duties Providing counseling services by meeting with students for individual counseling and treatment at the Lock Haven Campus and/or Clearfield branch campus. Completes intakes, contact notes, treatment plans and inactivation summaries. Provides daytime/emergency services as needed. Consults with the counseling service team and attends weekly clinical staffing. Provide evening and weekend hours as necessary. Specific Duties Besides performing the essential duties, the counselor shall serve as Outreach Coordinator for the Lock Haven Counseling Service. This will include in-service training and programs on mental health topics for the campus community. The position may require use of technology to assist LHUs Clearfield branch campus students with counseling issues and occasional site visits. Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Masters Degree in Counseling or a related field and license eligibility as a counselor or related field. Terminal degree is required for appointment as Assistant Professor, without the terminal degree candidate will be appointed as Instructor. The successful candidate will also have a minimum of three years experience working in a counseling capacity. Experience working in a counseling capacity with trauma, sexual assault/domestic violence, eating disorders, performance anxiety, and the LGBTQ population is essential. The successful candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and /or perform effectively in an interview or clinical case presentation. Experience and/or knowledge of NCAA Mental Health Best Practices. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience working in a University Counseling Service or Center is strongly preferred.
