Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Equipment Technician to join our Houston, TX Weights & Measures Team. In this vital role, you will support the maintenance, repair, calibration, and verification of field equipment used by our Inspection staff, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with Senior Members of the Health, Safety & Training team to uphold the performance and integrity of our equipment, which is essential to delivering high-quality, compliant inspection services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and emergency repairs on field inspection equipment.
- Conduct calibration and verification procedures in accordance with internal standards, industry regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all equipment maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and verifications.
- Ensure all equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory and quality standards (API, ASTM, ISO, etc.).
- Assist in the inventory management and tracking of equipment, calibration standards, tools, and consumables
- Collaborate with HST Leadership to provide technical support and troubleshooting for field equipment in real-time.
- Coordinate with HST Leadership for external servicing, parts ordering, and warranty-related matters by vendors and manufacturers.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, standardization, and operational efficiency.
Required Skills
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electronics, instrumentation, or mechanical repair is preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with common hand tools is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic data entry systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Must be able to lift and transport 25 pounds of equipment and tools, and work in warehouse, laboratory, and office environments.
Working Conditions:
- This role involves a combination of workshop and office work.
- Occasional travel to support regional field teams and inspection locations.
- Must adhere to company safety and quality procedures at all times.
