  • Responsibilities

    Primary Responsibilities

    The ideal candidate will:

    • Demonstrate knowledge of all subject areas taught.

    • Demonstrates knowledge of developmental characteristics of age group taught.

    • Effectively utilize the basic elements of instruction.

    • Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans including instructional objectives, planned activities, Biblical integration, assessment and resources.

    • Incorporate classroom technology in order to enhance instruction.

    • Implement effective classroom management and discipline procedures to provide for a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.

    • Regularly review/update curriculum guides to ensure proper instructional priorities and pacing.

    • Model effective teacher/parental partnering through timely communication with parents in support of student learning.

    The ideal candidate will:

    • Evidence a teachable spirit and general willingness to learn and grow

    • Evidence strong communication skills, both written and verbal

    • Evidence strong organizational skills and ability to finish tasks in a timely manner

    • Demonstrate emotional maturity and stability in dealing with the challenges of life and school

    • Evidence the ability to maintain confidentiality pertaining to school matters

    • Evidence the ability to work collaboratively within a team

    • Possess strong computer skills and familiarity with appropriate learning technology

    • Have the ability to present a positive image of the school to others and to the community

    • Oral Expression – The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

    • Speech Clarity – The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.

    • Speech Recognition – The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person.

    • Oral Comprehension – The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

    • Written Comprehension and Expression – The ability to understand and communicate information and ideas in writing so others can understand.

    • Selective Attention – The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.

    • Vision – the ability to see details at a close range as well as at a distance.

    • Environment – The ability to work in a potentially stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.

    • The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

    • The ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

    • Generally works in climate controlled environment, but may be required from time to time to work outdoors in extreme conditions.

  • Qualifications
    • Evidence of a mature personal Christian faith consistent with the WSA statement of Faith

    • Evidence understanding of and a commitment to Christian education and the ability to articulate a Biblical world view

    • A degree in Early Childhood or Elementary education; masters preferred

    • Minimum of 3 years teaching preferred

    • Evidence of strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and technological skills"
