The Manager, Finance & Payroll, is a key member of an inclusive and service-oriented Finance & Administration team who provides high-level service and administration for payroll, finance, sponsored research administration, faculty actions, and labor contract compliance for the college’s academic departments, research centers, outpatient clinics and units, as well as to college leadership. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration, the Manager will administer payroll, financial, faculty actions, and sponsored research services to the college’s diverse community of stakeholders. They will partner with college leadership to deliver financial analyses using data-informed management decisions. This position serves as the primary contact for Sargent College faculty and staff managing day-to-day payroll operations involving work across all central F&A units in the University, including HR, Payroll, and the Office of Sponsored Research.
The Manager will manage all aspects of payroll for Sargent College and its dynamic community of 400 faculty, researchers, and staff. The Manager will be responsible for Sargent's exempt semi-monthly, non-exempt weekly, and student weekly payrolls to ensure consistent, timely, and accurate administration of payroll transactions. The Finance & Payroll Manager will ensure payroll policies are adhered to and college-level processes are aligned with the University policies. The Manager will oversee human resource operations specifically for the college’s academic research job family, including hiring, onboarding, appointments, terminations, determining equitable salaries, and policies and procedures. This role will take the lead on the careful review and application of the L509 union contract relating to all new and continuing offers of employment to represented lecturers and will administer complex faculty actions in SAP, managing accrual work schedules, summer over base payments, and maintenance of positions for initial faculty appointments in BU Works.
