    Job Description

The Human Neuroimaging Center at the University of Notre Dame is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented MRI Analyst to advance neuroimaging research and analytic capabilities across the University. This role partners with faculty and research teams who utilize the Center’s facilities and contributes technical expertise that strengthens the Center’s research infrastructure and scientific impact.

This is a four-year, limited-term position. Contingent on funding, the position may be extended.

    About the Position:

The MRI Analyst supports the development and implementation of advanced MR imaging and analysis pipelines using the Siemens 3T Cima.X platform. The role emphasizes methodological innovation in structural, functional, and diffusion MRI, while exploring emerging analytic techniques such as AI and deep-learning approaches. Responsibilities include hands-on interaction with MRI hardware and software, protocol and workflow design, quality validation, and participation in testing procedures that may include scanning human subjects.

Working in collaboration with multidisciplinary research teams and technical partners, the MRI Analyst helps integrate new analytic tools and workflows into the Center’s infrastructure to enhance imaging capabilities and accelerate discovery in cognitive neuroscience, experimental psychology, computer science, and related fields.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Analysis Pipeline Development

    • Develop, modify, and test analysis pipelines for structural, functional, and diffusion MRI data.
    • Implement and optimize data storage, management, and analysis strategies for neuroimaging research.
    • Conduct technical development aligned with Center research priorities and emerging best practices.
    • Ensure data quality control, validation, reproducibility, and version control across projects.
    • Support data sharing, archiving, and compliance with IRB, NIH, and University policies.

    Research Collaboration & Methodological Support

    • Partner with faculty and research teams to design analysis pipelines and support workflow implementation.
    • Provide MRI analysis expertise to advance scientific outcomes across multiple concurrent projects.
    • Contribute to methodological innovation and experimental design within active research studies.

    Technology Advancement & Innovation

    • Implement and extend modern multimodal imaging workflows.
    • Develop and refine novel analytic techniques and computational approaches.
    • Validate and compare new and established tools, techniques, and analytic pipelines to improve performance and reliability.

    Teaching & Implementation

    • Develop instructional materials for seminars, workshops, bootcamps, and courses that increase accessibility to MRI research techniques.
    • Package analytic and pipeline tools for standardized implementation and QA/QC processes.
    • Train research personnel in analytic skills, including programming practices, data management, and pipeline construction.
