    The Social Work Department at Azusa Pacific University seeks to prepare students for professional social work practice as demonstrated by competence in skill performance with diverse populations in a variety of settings. As a mid-sized thriving department, emphasis is on engagement with students that integrates high expectations with high support for academic success. Training focuses on a holistic approach to professional development with a goal to prepare effective generalist and advanced social work practitioners and dynamic leaders both locally and globally. Ethical integration of faith in practice, teaching, and scholarship is emphasized.

    The MSW Program includes full-time, part-time, and advanced standing options. Teaching may include generalist and/or specialization-level courses. Specialized practice options include the Community Leadership and Program Administration specialization which prepares students for macro practice in local, national, and global contexts. The Clinical Practice with Individuals and Families specialization prepares students for a range of clinically oriented practice settings.

    Announcing a full-time faculty appointment as the Master of Social Work Program Director. This position is responsible for the administration of the Azusa MSW program and enrollment. Experience in higher education, administration, and/or program development required.

    Description:

    MSW Program Director position in a thriving, urban, CSWE-accredited Master of Social Work program. The Department of Social Work seeks candidates with experience in administration and social work education with a strong commitment to student engagement and development, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. The position is a year-round appointment, with a 50% reduction in teaching load to carry out administrative program responsibilities.

    Specialization: MSW program administration and enrollment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the quality, implementation, and evaluation of the MSW program.
    • Implementation and oversight of a fair and equitable MSW enrollment process.
    • In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, maintain accurate student records.
    • Participate in department and program meetings and functions, strategic planning, special programs, and campus committees as indicated for role.
    • Oversee CSWE accreditation/reaffirmation activities for MSW program, ensuring compliance of student services aspects of the program with CSWE EPAS.
    • Participating in the life of the department as well as the university is required.
    • Maintain a 50% teaching load.

    Level: Faculty Appointment, rank based on education and experience.

    Qualifications:

    • PhD or DSW preferred, with a Master of Social Work degree from an accredited social work program.
    • Minimum of two years professional practice experience.
    • Higher education administration experience.
    • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
    • Demonstrated potential for scholarship.
    • Able to communicate the ethical integration of Christian faith in social work scholarship and practice.
    • Advanced computer skills required (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.)

    Experience:

    University teaching experience, interprofessional collaboration, and community-based skills strongly preferred. An ability to teach across the curriculum, with specialization in the area of clinical and/or macro/administration social work practice desired. Demonstrated scholarship and research potential preferred.

    Workload: 10-Month Full-time Faculty Contract (27 units, Part A) and 2-Month Summer Contract (5 units, Part B).

    Compensation:

    • $68,640 to $125,460 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
    • Compensation will be based on experience, rank, and qualifications.
