The Multimedia Specialist leads the creation and production of visual content that supports Boston University’s Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine programs, research, and community. This role is primarily focused on photography (70%), with additional responsibility for videography (30%). This work appears across the school’s websites, publications, and digital channels.
This position plays a key role in shaping the school’s visual storytelling. A major responsibility includes producing photography for the biannual Boston University Medicine Magazine , including cover images and feature stories. The role also supports ongoing needs such as professional portraits, headshots, and event coverage across departments.

The ideal candidate is an inquisitive, self-directed visual storyteller who is comfortable taking initiative and working in a variety of settings. A background in photojournalism or multimedia journalism is strongly preferred, especially experience in editorial or newsroom environments.
This role requires creativity, flexibility, and strong instincts behind the camera. The person in this position should be comfortable working independently, thinking on their feet, and capturing moments as they unfold.
